Amphoralis

Amphoralis
Sallèles-d'Aude
Amphoralis, located in Sallèles-d'Aude, about twelve kilometers north of the ancient capital Narbo Martius, is a former Gallic amphora production workshop, unearthed in 1976. Its museum was designed by architects Roland Castro and Jean-Pierre Gary and inaugurated in 1992.

With its collections labeled Musée de France, it overlooks the archaeological excavations of an ancient pottery factory (1st–3rd century). It allows visitors to discover the daily life and activity of these potters who mass-produced wine amphorae, as well as various building materials (bricks, tiles) and everyday tableware. In the park, an outdoor trail leads to the reconstructions of ovens and a Gallo-Roman dwelling, built identically to the remains found.
