A series of fortifications built in the 13th century by Louis XI to protect the south of the Kingdom of France following the Crusades against the Albigensians. These fortifications (Quéribus, Peyrepertuse, Montségur,...) nestled on steep sites in the Corbières offer a breathtaking view of the relief and plains of Roussillon for walkers who venture there (a good level of fitness recommended).
